Editorial : About the Author The fact that life can be a crucible of enriching adventures and misadventures is something that Joy knows well. Among many attempts to find her way in the world, her most notable exploits include living the life of a blossoming designer, establishing a career in real estate sales and investment, near admission into the Foreign Service, and becoming an author-publisher. She is a devoted wife and mother of two who currently lives in Delaware. Joy was born in Augusta, GA (Fort Gordon Army Base), raised in southeastern Virginia, and took her wings in Philadelphia, PA where she completed studies at Philadelphia University. As a teenager, joy learned of the power of writing as a means of self-improvement. Putting words to paper became her most effective tool for gaining the hindsight she needed to understand her own behavior. Now, art, adventure, sexuality, spirituality, and humor are the underpinnings of the writing that she uses to learn, grow, and share in this process o
The decidedly unlucky Jane Luck is like a duck gliding on water. She appears to be moving through life with focus and ease, yet just beneath the surface, those little feet are paddling feverishly toward an uncertain future. The daughter of well-meaning but troubled parents who struggle with violence, addiction and infidelity, Jane leaves home to pursue her lifelong dream to study architecture in the city of purported brotherly love, Philadelphia. However, the elements of her past which travel with her almost cause her complete undoing. While her beliefs--built on a foundation of Christian Fundamentalism--are a grounding force, they also create a source of constant angst as she struggles to reconcile them with her need for companionship. When she gets a rare opportunity to cast off her cares during an escapade in Bermuda, a perfect storm of self-doubt, religious guilt, youthful sexuality, and burnout could send her over the edge."
