(For the record, I'm a drafting dinosaur who took `technical drawing' in high school where we did elevations and mechanical components in pencil with a drawing board and T-square. The cover and the description led me to believe I was going to read about a women's summer adventure, instead I got a story about a rude uncaring family. While reading it and working through the problems I really had the feeling that I was doing real mathematics vs just walking the dog type problems. Beautiful book. We learn a lot about Truman's personal life, his mother issues, his longing for fame and notoriety and his downward spiral into that Social Suicide. I did it over the computer in under two hours. Naturally the celebrations will be legendary.
But when desire and magic mix, the results can be unpredictable.
